Badminton at World Teachers Games

June 4, 2025

BWF made an impression at the World Teachers Games 2025 earlier this month, reaching out to over 400 participants assembled in the host city of Toulon, France.

The inaugural edition of the Games was held from 5 to 10 May, and had three focus areas: education, competition and conference. The event attracted diverse participants, including representatives from the European Union, researchers, and 270 PE teachers from 27 countries.

Presenting Shuttle Time

Significantly, BWF was the only international federation to make a presentation at the international conference that followed two days each of education workshops and competitions. The conference had panel discussions around topics such as: Physical Health; Mental Health and Well-Being; Social Development and Personal Skills; Cognitive Development; Healthy Lifestyle Habits; and Inclusiveness and Equality. BWF’s presentation on Shuttle Time by Development Director Ian Wright highlighted the project’s approach and positive impact, particularly on inclusiveness and physical literacy.

The education activity, held on 6 and 7 May, had discussions around eight topics, focused on various aspects of physical education including curriculum design, use of technology, teaching styles and approaches, and inclusivity. BWF was represented by Sahir Edoo, Head of Development Projects.

AirBadminton Competition

AirBadminton was one of the five sports in which competitions were held; the other sports were volleyball, beach rugby, trail running and swimming relay.

AirBadminton, held on 9 May, saw around 100 participants compete in a triples competition. India won the tournament beating Croatia; Oman and Brazil were bronze medallists.
