BWF was invited to participate in the Special Olympics North America<\/a> (SONA) Sport for Inclusion Business Meeting 2024, held in New Orleans (USA) from 20-24 February 2024.<\/p>\n

The annual business meeting brings together approximately 500 Special Olympics State Programme leaders and staff for four days of discussions, workshops and sharing of best practice.[vc_single_image image=”12305″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]BWF Head of Continental Development John Shearer attended the meeting to present the various programmes and resources that are available to assist Special Olympics Programmes in introducing badminton to athletes with intellectual disability.<\/p>\n

BWF\u2019s Shuttle Time and AirBadminton initiatives have attracted growing interest in badminton within Special Olympics, with 103 National Special Olympics Programmes now offering badminton globally.<\/p>\n

BWF intends to work closely with SONA to grow badminton in the SONA region, with a goal to see badminton as a competitive sport in the Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota in 2026.[\/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”flexslider_slide” interval=”3″ images=”12286,12285,12284″]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
