Landmark achievements of Member Associations were celebrated by BWF at the fourth edition of the BWF Member Association Awards on Saturday 26 April 2025.<\/p>\n
The winners were announced at the BWF Annual General Meeting in Xiamen (China), recognising exceptional contributions in four categories: BWF Membership Grant Impact Award, Participation Award, Inclusion Award and Promotion Award. Each award acknowledges projects and initiatives that have made a major impact on the growth of badminton.<\/p>\n
The award process was overseen by the BWF Awards Commission, and winning Member Associations were awarded a US$2,500 equipment grant. The awards were handed to the winners by outgoing BWF President Poul-Erik H\u00f8yer and new BWF President Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul.[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
With the support of the BWF Membership Grant in 2024, Honduras expanded its badminton participation, fostering engagement in public and private schools, universities and community clubs. More than 1000 new participants \u2013 40 per cent of whom were female \u2013 were introduced across 11 educational centres.<\/p>\n
While accepting the award, Juan Antonio Nolascoto, President of Honduras Badminton Federation, said: \u201cThis award is received in the name of many kids and youngsters of Honduras, adults and people who practice badminton now in Honduras. I feel very happy to see that children and juveniles are playing together, privately and pulling us together. The FFBaD Junior Academy is a training and support project for young people aged 13 to 17, aimed at increasing engagement and volunteer roles, which have been in decline since 2020.<\/p>\n
The programme has resulted in 90 per cent of regional leagues increasing their young volunteers, with applications already doubling in 2025.<\/p>\n
Franck Laurent, French Badminton Federation President, and Catherine Le Saint, Vice President International Relations, accepted the award on behalf of FFBaD.<\/p>\n

The Inclusion Award recognises a Member Association that has successfully developed and delivered programmes which address the area of inclusion, recognising badminton\u2019s ability to break down social, cultural and economic barriers to provide opportunities for all.<\/p>\n
The award was jointly awarded to Azerbaijan and Senegal as both associations received equal scores from the Member Association Awards Panel.<\/p>\n
Azerbaijan Badminton Federation initiated a philanthropic initiative to help the African continent with an equipment support programme, starting with five African countries \u2013 Botswana, Cameroon, Djibouti, Gambia and Madagascar.<\/p>\n
The initiative significantly boosted badminton development across these nations and the wider African continent, reaching 60 schools, 1,500 participants, 40 clubs and numerous key partners.<\/p>\n
Taleh Ziyadov, President of Azerbaijan Badminton Federation, said: \u201cThis award is meaningful because it has a message. There are countries that are well developed in badminton, and there are less fortunate ones. This is a message to those who are advanced to share with the less developed countries.\u201d<\/p>\n
Senegal Badminton Federation addressed menstruation during competition through an all-women activity while celebrating International Women\u2019s Day 2024 and aligning with Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games and BWF Legacy Project for Dakar.<\/p>\n
Titled \u201cManaging Menstruation During Competitions and Best Practices for Girls\u201d, the activity educated 600 girls, including those with disabilities, on menstrual health and female emancipation in badminton.<\/p>\n

The Egyptian Badminton Federation successfully re-engaged, grew and popularised badminton with ambitious re-branding, communications and partnership engagement strategy.<\/p>\n
The new approach resulted in increase across all social media channels, renewed investment from key government stakeholders, and the introduction of new event sponsors.<\/p>\n
Dr. Hadia Hosny, President of the Egyptian Badminton Federation, expressed her happiness: \u201cThis award is not just a milestone, it is a source of inspiration.
