International Women’s Day: Celebrating Women In Badminton

This international Women’s Day, BWF honours all women, past, present, and future, who have worked to advance gender equality and highlight educational programmes that support females in the badminton family. The theme for International Women’s Day 2023 is #EmbraceEquity. Here, BWF celebrates the women and girls in the sport to make an impact.

Coaching Pathways for Para Players

The BWF in collaboration with West Asia Para Federation (WAPF) organised a BWF Coach Education Level 1 Course for current and former Para badminton athletes. This course aims to integrate athletes with disability into the BWF coaching pathway, providing opportunities for athletes to develop skills and increase their future employment opportunities after retiring from competing.

BWF Push for Athlete Education, Dual Career

With young players devoting most of their time to training and playing, competing in the ‘real world’ beyond the badminton court poses a challenge, particularly after their playing career. To ease their path, BWF has initiated projects that help them pursue educational and alternate career goals even during their competitive career.

Experts Deliver Shuttle Time to Expand Badminton in North America

On 21 October, Special Olympics coaches, volunteers, teachers and badminton experts gathered in San Antonio, Texas to kick off three days of Shuttle Time activities. Designed to support the teaching of enjoyable, safe and inclusive badminton, participants took part in one of two workshops – Shuttle Time Tutor and Shuttle Time Teacher.

Athletes are the beating heart of the Paralympic Movement and it is for that reason that during the HULIC DAIHATSU Para Badminton World Championships 2022, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) lead a series of development workshops throughout the week, collaborating with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) on the Proud Paralympian Programme to help Paralympians on their sporting journey.
