Excerpt: To compare the chromatic contrast sensitivity function (CSF) for the blue-yellow opponent channel (BYOC) between female badminton players and non-athlete controls. We recruited 40 young females (18-25 years old) who played badminton for at least 5 consecutive years as the test group, and 30 age-matched female controls who had no history of regular physical activity. The Pattern Generator™ system was used to test the CSF for the BYOC which was performed at three spatial frequencies (SFs) of 2 cycles per degree (cpd), 5 cpd, and 25 cpd.

Excerpt: As a result of increasing participation, intensity, demands and longer training periods, the potential risk of injuries in table tennis and badminton seems to increase in all levels of athletes. It is necessary to understand what factors have to be involved in an injury-prevention strategy for both sports activities. On the sample of 44 top Slovenian athletes we have studied the frequency of injuries among table tennis and badminton players, types of injuries and severity of injuries – the latter based on data of players absences from training and/or competition processes. Although table ten

Excerpt: In this research, time optimal control is considered for the hit motion of a badminton robot during a serve operation. For this task the racket always starts at rest in a given position and has to move to a target state, defined by a target position and a non-zero target velocity. The goal is to complete these motions in as little time as possible, yet without violating bounds on the actuator. To find controllers satisfying these requirements, a reinforcement learning approach has been implemented, using a Natural Actor-Critic (NAC) reinforcement learning algorithm. This approach is experiment

Excerpt: Some deformities that increase the risk of injury including cavus foot are not correctable yet and can only be limited by prevention and taking care of external causes. The current study aimed at determining if foot type (cavus or normal) resulted in loading differences during badminton fundamental movements, considering the prevalence of cavovarus foot deformity and the important role of the foot in sports – especially the sports that suddenly impose forces with different speeds on foot. Twenty healthy subjects (10 cases with normal feet and 10 with high arch feet) completed 5 trials in

Excerpt: There are a few sports, and badminton is one of them, that are interesting to watch and play but are nevertheless underrated in worldwide TV coverage. Despite the well known popularity of badminton, it is very rarely on TV channels. One of the reasons was that long games with many rallies would be interesting to an expert but not to an ordinary TV audience. Furthermore, long playing time, without many breaks, is challenging for the players and also very unpopular for sponsors who would like their commercials to be seen between games. The duration of the games is not easily predictable and live
