Excerpt: The paper focuses on a comprehensive and systematic study on major badminton competitions home and abroad and an objective and in- depth analysis of the use of drop shot in badminton women’s singles,which also finds out the problems in using the drop shot. The study shows that the use of drop shot is in dispensable in badminton women’s singles. A good use of drop shot will turn the whole game from passive to active; however,timing should be paid attention.

Excerpt: An experimental method to obtain flight parameters from the trajectory of a badminton shuttlecock is described. This methodology is able to identify the aerodynamic parameters and simulate the various flight trajectories of a badminton shuttlecock. Two shuttlecocks were evaluated – a feather shuttlecock and a prototype synthetic shuttlecock. The four flight modes of the feather shuttlecocks were captured experimentally through an array of high-speed cameras.
