In February 2020, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) published a public application process for research projects, which aim to improve the level and quantity of scientific material available to coaches and badminton practitioners, as well as to increase the players’ and coaches’ knowledge of performance and safety at international level.
Despite this year’s challenges, individuals and institutions from all over the world submitted high quality and relevant proposals to our sport. The following projects where selected for the 2020-2021 programme:

| 06 | Dr. David Alder | Leeds Beckett University | United Kingdom | Examining the relationship between developmental activities, coach leadership styles and the prevalence of injury |
| 07 | PhD Mette Kreutzfeldt Zebis | University College Copenhagen | Denmark | A prospective injury surveillance study of badminton injuries in children and adolescent elite badminton players |
Researchers will have until November 2021 to complete the research process and to present a final report. After the final report is accepted by the BWF Sport Science & Medical Research Commission, the plan is to disseminate the findings through publications on BWF’s website, webinars, coaching conferences, sport science journals, etc.
