Excerpt: This study focused on the effective factors on talent identification of badminton. Thus, all of badminton national team players of Iran (n=19, age mean= 19.6) surveyed by a questionnaire. Freedman test was used to rank effective factors on talent identification. Excerpt: We commend the work performed by Luong et al.1 regarding their description of traumatic hyphemas sustained during badminton play and the need to review the current state of protective eyewear while playing sports. We agree with their recommendation to require eye protection in badminton. To further support the need for protective eyewear, we report a ruptured globe injury in a child sustained from blunt trauma when a badminton racquet shattered his spectacles.

Excerpt: Serious eye injury can occur in badminton players and may become more frequent. The causes and nature of such injuries in this sport in six patients are discussed. All were playing competitive doubles matches. Penetrating eye injury due to a shattered glass spectacle lens occurred. Players should be advised not to wear spectacles with glass lenses. Ocular protection in this sport is desirable, and the forward player should hold the racket in front of the face.

Through the inverse dynamic approach, the unknown torque at the segment is found using kinematic data produced from an observation of a professional badminton player in a Thomas Cup’s Tournament. We show that their trajectory is completely different from classical parabola: for a same launch, the flight of the shuttlecock quickly curves downwards and almost reaches a vertical asymptote.
