The BWF AirBadminton Asia Pacific Continental Championships 2025 in early August was more than a showcase of elite athleticism. It was a celebration of community, sustainability, and social impact.
As part of the event’s CSR legacy programme, two AirBadminton Coaching Clinics were held in collaboration with SMK Bukit Saujana and Yayasan Anak-Anak Yatim Piatu Port Dickson, engaging over 60 children in a fun and inclusive introduction to the sport.
With the support of six volunteer coaches, the clinics provided hands-on training, mentorship, and a chance for youth to connect with the global badminton community.
A special highlight was the presence of Olympic silver medallist Chan Peng Soon, who not only inspired the children with his story and skills, but then also joined teams from the Asia Pacific Continental Championships, plus technical officials, staff and volunteers in a beach cleaning initiative at Pantai Saujana.
“It’s always special to be giving back to the community especially helping young people get involved in badminton,” said Chan.
“AirBadminton is a great way to introduce the sport to more communities in an outdoor environment and hopefully they will continue to play badminton in the future.”
On the beach clean-up, he added: “We play in beautiful places like Port Dickson, and it’s our responsibility to help keep them that way. Sport isn’t just about winning it’s about making a difference.”
This initiative reflects the broader values of the BWF AirBadminton movement.
Further initiatives are being planned for the BWF AirBadminton World Cup 2025 in Sharjah, UAE from 11-14 December.
