The AirBadminton courts at the Dubai Police Officer’s Club in Al Jadhaf, Dubai, witnessed an exhilarating display of world-class badminton over the past two weekends during the Dubai Police Ramadan AirBadminton Tournament 2024. Organized by the Dubai Police as part of their esteemed Ramadan Games 2024 and executed in collaboration with the UAE Badminton Federation, the tournament attracted nearly 200 players, showcasing the growing popularity and prestige of the sport in the region.
In a fitting climax to the event, Team Al Raed Sports showcased their dominance again by clinching victory in the highly anticipated Mixed Team Relay finals, triumphing over Team NVBA with a scoreline of 80-74. Their stellar performance continued their success from the previous week, where they secured the championship title in the Mixed Triples (XT) category during the individual events. The finals witnessed a fiercely contested battle, with Team NVBA exhibiting remarkable resilience, captivating spectators with their relentless rallies and breathtaking displays of skill.
Noteworthy among the performances was the commendable showing of Emirati players in the Boys and Girls Under 17 categories, with Al Nasr Club, Dubai, asserting their dominance by securing all three podium positions in both doubles events. This promising display underscores the growing talent pool within the Emirati badminton community, setting a solid foundation for future success.
The tournament concluded with an extravagant prize ceremony, presided over by Major General Ali Atiq Bin Lahej, Director of the General Department of Airports Security at Dubai Police, Dr. Maryam Anas Al Matroushi, Director-General and Chairman of the Athletes Council of Dubai Police, and Ms. Noura Hassan Al Jasmi, President of UAE Badminton Federation. Amidst an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie, medals, trophies, and a substantial prize purse totaling AED 36,000 were distributed across six events, acknowledging the outstanding achievements of the participants.
