Long-term objectives

To work in partnership with the Continental Confederations and BWF members to develop individual potential in our sport and build sustainable systems, structures and pathways from beginner to world class.  This is done by providing educational resources that support the delivery of structured development programmes, projects and activities for our members.

Priority strategic areas

The BWF invests significantly every year to support development projects and activities at world, regional and local levels.

Key focuses for development are:

  • Youth  Shuttle Time schools badminton / university badminton
  • Players Player development programmes towards Tokyo 2020 and beyond
  • Coaches – Coach Education / coaching resources
  • Administrators Event Management – training courses targeted on a needs-based principle
  • Continental Confederations – grants to support regional and national development projects
  • Membership – activities to support less developed members to increase capacity and grow organisational skillsets
  • Olympic Solidarity – support for Members to access funding for player and coach development activities
  • Special Projects – support for specific projects which promote our sport and provide sporting opportunity in disadvantaged regions and sections of society
  • Technical Officials – training /education courses
