Dual-Career Resources
There is a wide range of support available for those athletes who are looking to advance their studies and develop their skills while they continue to train and compete.
Athlete365 Career+
Athlete365 Career+ is a programme that empowers athletes to maximise their education and employment opportunities and helps them stride confidently into a dual or post-sports career. It supports athletes at all stages of their career, helping them discover their potential and plan for their life beyond the world of competitive sport through a blend of advice, training and peer-to-peer learning. Athlete365 Career+ (formerly the Athlete Career Programme) is an IOC Athletes’ Commission initiative and is delivered with The Adecco Group.
IOC Athlete365 Learning (Online)
BWF players have access to the IOC online athlete resources, including the Athlete365 Learning, which offers athletes short courses on topics such as nutrition, psychology, career transitions, etc. These courses are available in multiple languages and can be taken at the athletes’ convenience.
YOG Education Programme
The Youth Olympic Games Athlete Education Programme aims to inspire and educate young elite athletes from 15 to 18 years old, including the next generation of Olympians. The programme is designed to enhance the protection and well-being of young athletes, both on the field of play and in their everyday lives, building around three main themes:
- Protect the Clean Athlete
- Athlete Performance
- Athlete Beyond Sport
Badminton World Federation in partnership with the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) has launched various programmes aimed at dual-career athletes. For those who have chosen to purse education alongside their elite sporting life, this offers them greater opportunities to learn new skills.
All the programmes are 100 per cent online, recognising that athletes require flexibility at different stages in their careers, as many have limited time available.
The scholarship application process for each programme is determined by the timeline of the intake and programmes are open to both badminton and Para badminton athletes.
