Source: https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/e/9781135810061/chapters/10.4324%2F9780203474617-22
Excerpt: Great advancements have been made in recent years as to conditioning racket sport athletes, establishing guidelines for nutritional requirements, and facilitating the mastery of technical skills and tactics. However, in spite of the realisation of the importance of possessing exceptional anticipatory strategies and decision-making skills in situations with tight time constraints and uncertainty of opponent’s intentions, little practical information has been generated from science as to how to improve the ways one might prepare to function most effectively in these situations.

Game refinement theory and its application to score limit games

Category: Notional Analysis
Author: Nossal, N. & Iida, H.
Year: 2014
Language: English
Region: Pan America
Source: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7048120/
Excerpt: This paper presents an application of game refinement theory to score limited sport games badminton and table tennis, in order to observe the effect of recent rule changes on their sophistication. We apply the game refinement measure of information from world class tournaments. The results show game refinement values for badminton and table tennis. Although not considered in the present study, it can be seen that additional studies on a relationship between elapsed times and game refinement values for score limited games would be useful.

Source: https://www.bisp-surf.de/Record/PU200204001446
Excerpt: While researching for the headcoach of the German national youth team in badminton, the game of a young talent was analysed. The central goal of this sport-psychological analysis has been the question of her unexpected and recuring defeats in contest with supposedly weaker opponents. This game-analysis has been conducted according to gestalt-psychological concepts. The essay describes process, method and procedure of this game-analysis and offers an insight in important results of the analysis. Verf.-Referat

Language: English
Region: Pan America
Source: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/j.2162-6057.1999.tb01043.x
Excerpt: This study used a modified multiple baseline approach across groups to determine the effects of a creative problem‐solving intervention series on the game‐play decision making of university badminton students. All subjects were videotaped five times (once per week) in five‐minute game play sessions with the same partner each time. One group (experimental) underwent creative problem‐solving interventions on a weekly basis. Following the interventions and videotaping, each five‐minute segment was coded via computer for frequencies of occurring tactical decisions. Results suggest that

Ground reaction forces and knee kinetics during single and repeated badminton lunges

Category: Biomechanics
Author: Lam, W.K. , Ding, R., Qu, Y.
Year: 2015
Language: English

Category: Engineering and Technology
Author: Nasruddin, F. A. et al.
Year: 2016
Language: English
Region: Europe
Source: https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-319-21735-2_5
Excerpt: In this chapter, various racket head designs were evaluated to identify the parameter that influences the performance of the racket. Based on the analysis, performance of racket head design was affected by two main factors which are the area of string-bed and the deflection of sting. In-depth analysis on the relationship between string-bed surface area and deflection of string were discussed in greater details. Furthermore, this finding provides the understanding in development for greater head shape design in future.

Heart rate and blood lactate response in competitive badminton

Author: Ghosh, A. K., Mazumdar, P., Goswami, A, et al.
Year: 1990
Language: English
Region: Pan America
Source: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/297443679_Heart_rate_and_blood_lactate_response_in_competitive_badminton
Excerpt: Ten junior national level (13-14 years of age) female badminton players having 3-6 years of training were studied to investigate the demands of the game on heart rate and blood lactate during competition. The mean V̇(O2max) and the anaerobic threshold level were 48.3 ml/kg/min and 66.3% of the V̇(O2max). Game analysis revealed that heart rates were higher in the second and third games than in the first game, whereas no difference was found in blood lactate concentration. Anaerobic threshold, heart rate, and total duration of the game indicated an anaerobic-aerobic time domain ratio of 3:1.

Excerpt: In recent years, image and video processing find one’s way into sport and is now used for different purposes. From this year also football stadiums are equipped with high-speed cameras to accurately follow the ball near the goal. The images from different viewing angles allow a reconstruction of the exact position of the ball and can therefore be a helpful assistance system for the referee. Under certain conditions, a single camera is already sufficient to determine the depth and thus the spatial location of a known object. This approach is presented here in detail by means of the speed
