Badminton World Federation, in collaboration with the World Academy of Sport (WAoS), has launched a new cycle of scholarships for the Postgraduate Certificate in International Sports Management offered by the WAoS and the University of London.
Applications for the new cycle opened on 5 February 2024 and will run until 15 June 2024. BWF will notify successful applicants by the middle of July 2024.
The programme provides unique opportunities for dual-career athletes who have chosen to pursue their education alongside their elite sporting career. It also offers talent the chance to learn new skills to those already employed in the badminton family.
Since February 2021, 25 candidates have enrolled in the programme. The students range from Olympians, Paralympians, current and former athletes, to Member Association staff.
For the September 2024 cycle, BWF and WAoS are offering similar educational opportunities, with one fully funded scholarship, and 10-25 per cent scholarships.
The course is 100 per cent online and can be completed over a period of up to five years.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants should have:
- An existing undergraduate degree (e.g., Bachelor degree) or a minimum of five to eight years of relevant work experience and professional references; and
- An English language level of IELTS: at least 6.5 overall, with 6.0 in the written test or other equivalent proficiency certification [link]; plus
