The BWF has recently benefited further from its relationship with the Agitos Foundation, the charitable arm of the International Paralympic Committee. Agitos is working together with Tokyo 2020 organisers to elevate the technical knowledge of coaches, athletes and administrators, as they continue to promote the awareness of the Paralympic Movement in the build-up to this year’s Paralympic Games. The workshops took place from 25th-27th February in Nagoya, Japan at the Nihon Fukushi University.

Participants from 14 Asian countries attended workshops from three sports; badminton, table tennis and swimming. The badminton workshops consisted of a coaching and administration courses and were delivered by BWF staff and experts. All the attendees of the coaching workshop were female, while 50 percent of the attendees of the administration workshop were female.

Each participating country will now complete an action plan, outlining their plans to develop Para badminton in their country and how to effectively activate and utilise their newly trained coaching workforce.
