Show Your #WhiteCard

March 5, 2019

The Badminton World Federation will again be raising its #WhiteCard in solidarity with Peace and Sport’s annual observance of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

Come April 6, badminton’s world governing body will join other organisations globally in marking the sixth anniversary of this day which celebrates sport’s positive and constructive values and its unique ability to foster more peaceful and inclusive societies.

The #WhiteCard universally symbolises the peace-through-sport movement and a related global digital initiative which highlights promotional activities on the day.

BWF renewed its support and commitment to such causes last year, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Peace and Sport during the SportAccord Convention in Bangkok.

This followed partnerships between the two organisations on projects in Colombia, Dubai, Haiti and Timor Leste, using badminton as a catalyst to effect positive outcomes.

BWF hopes all its badminton family – Continental Confederations, Member Associations and other stakeholders – will value this opportunity to celebrate such a crucial cause by:

  • Joining the celebration by organising a badminton event or activity and registering it on the dedicated april6.org website.
  • Participating in the worldwide digital #WhiteCard campaign by taking a selfie of you or your organisation holding a #WhiteCard and posting it on social media.

If you are looking for ideas to plan your own event? Check out the documents in the link below or visit www.april6.org platform.

We look forward to seeing how you and your organisation celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
